Dell Precision M4300 Battery all-laptopbattery.com

These batteries were included with select units sold around the world between December 2015 and December 2017, according to the company. This includes the HP Probook 64x (G2 and G3), HP ProBook 65x (G2 and G3), HP x360 310 G2, HP Envy M6, HP Pavilion x360, HP 11 notebook computers, and HP ZBook (17 G3, 17 G4, and Studio G3) mobile workstations. Batteries for some of these are not replaceable by users, but whatever the case, HP says it will handle getting a safe battery into owners' devices.HP has set up a recall site and released a BIOS update. This places the system in Battery Safety Mode, which allows the computer to be used by plugging it in. When enabled on an affected system, the battery will be discharged and then can't be charged (at least without disabling the safety mode). HP says it "strongly recommends" using this mode if you're affected.

Those who are impacted can request a no-cost replacement through HP's website. You can download a tool to verify if your battery is susceptible to the issue here.If you have one of the models listed above, you should download the HP Battery Validation Utility to see whether it is affected. The tool takes less than 30 seconds to run.If your laptop is affected you will be prompted to download a BIOS update, which puts the laptop in Battery Safety Mode and allows you to bypass the battery and use it safely when plugged into the mains. Reboot your laptop following the update.Besides its being naturally prone to deterioration, your battery can degrade due to higher-than-normal voltages, which happens when you keep your battery fully charged at all times. Even though a modern laptop battery cannot be overcharged, doing so will add a stress factor that’ll harm your battery.

Both extremely high temperatures (above 70°F) and low temperatures (between 32-41°F) can also reduce battery capacity and damage its components. The same goes for storing a battery for long periods of time, which can lead to the state of extreme discharge. Another factor is physical damage. Remember that batteries are made up of sensitive materials, and physical collision can damage them.Agawam Fire Chief Alan Sirois told 22News a laptop battery caused a fire in an Agawam apartment Wednesday. There are things you can do to prevent putting your device and yourself in jeopardy, like not leaving your laptop plugged in or charging on your bed. Leaving your laptop on your bed can block it's vents, and cause it to overheat.

Chris Bovino at Northeast IT in West Springfield told 22News that the age of your battery can also make your laptop more susceptible to catching fire.Lithium ion battery safety tips
"If you suspect that your battery is getting old you wanna replace it with an OEM battery," Bovino said. "So if you have an HP laptop, make sure you buy an HP battery. If you have a Dell laptop make sure you buy a Dell battery. Don't buy any of the third party types."Last month, HP recalled 50,000 Lithium ion batteries over fire risks. If you purchased that laptop brand between December 2015 and December 2017, you should contact the manufacture. While there have been some well-documented issues regarding the batteries of various Surface models in the past, we’re not aware of any specific flaws which are plaguing the Surface Laptop. At least not wide-ranging ones, although anecdotally we have seen the odd comment online about somewhat disappointing Surface Laptop battery life compared to Microsoft’s claims.Sadly, there’s no mention of boosted battery longevity, if that was what you were after – but still, any improvement to the reliability of hardware is obviously welcome.Surface Laptop owners should get the update pushed to them automatically via Windows Update. You can check for updates by clicking on the Start button, then heading to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

Do note that Surface firmware updates are rolled out in phases, so you may still have to wait a little while before you get this through. It's generally recommended to keep your laptop battery charged somewhere between 40 and 80 percent, as well as keeping the laptop as cool as possible. But when it comes to gaming, there's no workaround for keeping the unit powered and enjoying a few hours of entertainment. You need that constant flow of power, but does this have a negative effect on the battery? Some laptops actually require you to game while having it plugged in, especially gaming notebooks. Larger laptops with multiple GPUs even have more than a single power brick, requiring two power outlets to keep the machine running. You're going to be causing a little wear on the battery, but the battery is being worn down all the time so it will end up being useless eventually, regardless how you use the laptop.

For me, I tend to abide by the 40 to 80 percent rule on most of my electronic devices with built-in batteries. The only exceptions are my laptop (which I use to game on from time to time), OnePlus 5 due to Android Auto, and my Nintendo Switch. Will gaming on your notebook with it plugged in all the time cause it to explode? Nope, but it may have a slight effect on the battery due to heat generation. What’s more, many airlines today offer optional Wi-Fi to purchase, so you can be on the Internet, as well. But don’t forget you can now download movies and TV shows from Netflix to watch offline, or download music from Spotify ahead of time, to listen to without Internet access. Taking advantage of this feature could save you money.

Before you get on the plane, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) says you must remove your laptop from your bag, backpack, or purse, and place it in a separate bin at the security checkpoint for scanning. Due to increased security measures, you may be asked to open your laptop after it passes through the X-ray belt, or in some cases, turn it on for the TSA officers to prove it’s really a laptop.Note: you might not need to take out your laptop if it’s in a “checkpoint friendly” bag. Specific criteria include: a designated laptop-only section that unfolds to lie flat on the X-ray belt; no metal snaps, zippers or buckles inside, underneath or on top of the laptop-only section; no pockets on the inside or outside of the laptop-only section; and nothing else in the laptop-only section other than the computer itself.

Up until the summer of 2016, you only needed to take a laptop out of your bag at a TSA security checkpoint – and leave all other electronics inside of small luggage, a backpack, briefcase, or purse – but today you may be asked to take all gadgets out of your bag.In fact, the TSA has announced new procedures for screening large electronics in carry-on bags have begun at the Denver International Airport – the sixth-busiest airport in the U.S. — and will continue to roll out around the country in the coming weeks and months. This includes passengers asked to remove electronics larger than a smartphone from their carry-on bags in some lanes, to help officers get a clearer view on the X-ray machine. In addition, officers might ask passengers to remove other select items, including food and liquid (up to 3.4 ounces, or 100 milliliters, per bottle), from their carry-on bags. TSA encourages travelers to organize their carry-on bags and keep them uncluttered to ease the screening process and keep the lines moving.
